Joachim Johansson def. Andy Roddick 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6, 6-4.

So are there any predictions for the final? Mine is Federer vs. Hewitt but hoping Henman can continue the run.

Just read that the semi Johansson-Hewitt will be special. Joachim's girlfriend is.... Jaslyn Hewitt. Mmm would she encourage her boyfriend or her brother on Saturday?

Great news on Henman reaching the semi's. Hope his back holds out.... then again it has till now!

Just to summarize:

1st Semi: Roger Federer vs Tim Henman
2nd Semi: Lleyton Hewitt vs Joachim Johansson

Henman leads Federer 6-2 in head to heads.
Hewitt and Johansson have never played!

Bring it on!

It was amusing to hear Henman take a pop at the scheduling committee during his press conference! He slipped it in quite casually. Nicely done.

Pressure from American TV (surprise, surprise) means the semis are scheduled on Saturday with the ladies final (Super Saturday) and the men's final follows on Sunday.

Won't see anything of it I fear, I'm off to France tomorrow morning for 2 weeks

Lindsay is having difficulties with Kuznetsova: she took the first set 6-1 but lost the second one 2-6

First surprise of the day, Kuznetsova reached the final !

She beat Lindsay 1-6 6-2 6-4

I only saw the last games, Lindsay was 0-3 up in the last set, but she was injured

I'm afraid we don't get any tennis without satellite TV, so I'll be watching the Java scoreboard later for Henman's match.

The Russian ladies seem to be a real force in the women's game at the moment. Also nice to see two 3-set matches on the ladies side for a change. I hope this is a trend for the future. I was getting bored with 6-2 6-1 wins all the time

So Henman lost and was made to look better by the fact that Federer beat Hewitt resoundingly in the final 6-0 7-6 6-0 to become. An amazing scoreline and I guess an amazing match. Did anyone get to see it? It seems he is practically unstopable and becomes the first man in history to win his first 4 grand slam finals!

All hail Pete Sampras the second!

Great US Open! Melissa I was also in France at the weekend. I saw some of the Henman-Federer match in the hotel room. Federer looked awesome. Well done to him in the final too. Must have been an interesting match, have not seen a scoreline like that before!

Another russian grand slam winner, the russians are taking over the womens game!

I will update the site tonight with the latest post US Open rankings and details of the winners on the US Open page.

I should point out that 17yr old Brit Andrew Murray won the boys US Open title 6-4 6-2 against Sergiy Stakhovsky from Ukraine. It seems he will be in the Davis Cup squad for Austria later in the month. One to watch for the future hopefully.
