RE: Wimbledon 2005

I predicted 12 correct results out of 16 possible which is not bad I suppose. I'm glad I didn't put any money on Ancic. I thought he was a good outside bet for the Championship (If Federer faltered).

I'd have to go for a Davenport vs. Sharapova ladies final and I'm too scared to predict the men's There are some strong competitors still in the draw...anything can happen! Unfortunately I've been at work all day so the only tennis I've seen is the last two sets of the Federer vs. Ferrero match

I've always enjoyed BBC coverage, but I don't understand why they stopped coverage before the tiebreak between Federer and Ferrero Listening to Radio Wimbledon now

Yes they can be annoying sometimes. I actually have digital BBC here but when they switched over it was blank screen!

It eventually appeared at about 3-4 in the tiebreaker! Grrr!

I put some "virtual" cash on Ancic today on another forum Just counted and I also 12 results out of 16 correct..

Davenport vs. Sharapova also seems "logic" to me. At the men's side, I'm going for Federer-Hewitt and Nalbandian-Roddick, the final is still too far away

I agree with your quarter final line up on the men's side Melissa. They look like good matches too, I'm glad that I booked Friday off today

Clijsters is out, she served 3 double faults in her last service game

I just watched the highlights of that match and it was heartbreaking to see that last game! See you next year at Wimbledon Kim. Hopefully in a better seeding.

Yes, she broke back the game before, and then going down like that was an anticlimax. I hope has some nice hardcourt results this summer, that should improve her ranking. I don't think she has any more points to defend until the Antwerp tournament in February.

Quarter Final Line-up

Federer vs. Gonzalez
Hewitt vs. Lopez
Johansson vs. Nalbandian
Grosjean vs. Roddick

Davenport vs. Kuznetsova
Mauresmo vs. Myskina
Pierce vs. V Williams
Petrova vs. Sharapova

My tips are in bold.

I want Myskina to go further, but I feel Mauresmo is going to be too much for her. Pierce could also take Venus to a third set as she is playing very solidly of late.

My tips:

Hewitt vs. Lopez

Johansson vs. Nalbandian

Grosjean vs. Roddick

Davenport vs. Kuznetsova

Mauresmo vs. Myskina

Pierce vs. V Williams

Petrova vs. Sharapova

I think, that Kuznetsova are going to beat Daventport. Yesterday I watched the Russian against Magdalena Maleeva (former N4) and I saw that Kuznetsova has got a very powerful forehand.

Aslo Grosjean is very experienced and he`s gonna to beat beat Andy Roddick, `cause the American makes a lot of double faults and can`t play near to the net.

And three of the top four seeds in the semis. I still reckon it'll be a Davenport vs. Sharapova in the final but Venus is dangerous!

For the men tomorrow I am going for...

Federer vs. Lopez

and

Nalbandian vs. Roddick

but it has to be said that anyone could reach the final on the mens side.

Both Federer and Hewitt won in 3 sets today to set up a "dream semi".

It's dry again and on Belgian tv we can watch Knowles/V. Williams vs. Rochus/Clijsters, it's a nice match

Clijsters had her revenche today when she beat Venus in the mixed doubles, after matchpoint she celebrated like she had just won her first Slam

Johansson beat Nalbandian in 3 sets and Roddick got rid of Grosjean in 5. Didn't see much of those matches, so I can't really comment on it. I'm going for the Federer - Roddick final now !

I missed all the action too. Work is a pain! Oh well, I'll be ready and waiting for the 'Today at Wimbledon' show on later. By all accounts Federer was on fire and Roddick must have raised his game in order to beat Grosjean.

By the way, does anyone know what's going on with Dokic. I've not heard from her in a while. Is she injured? From the WTA website she is 6 and 6 this year so must have been around. In fact looking at her last match, the score was 7-6(1) 1-0 ret. so I guess she is injured. I guess the fact that her ranking is 378 doesn't help either.

I've pretty much answered my own question there so ignore me if you like!
