John McEnroe has reportedy offered some coaching to Scotland's Andrew Murray. Not on a full time basis, more of an occaissional session. McEnroe sees potential in the young Junior US Open champion.
Certainly he looked to have a great deal of talent during his first senior tournament. Going down to Thomas Johansson in the third round; 7-5 in the final set after suffering a twisted ankle and cramp in the thigh.
Maybe we have a worthy replacement for Tim Henman in the Davis Cup squad.
There is a little bit of Andy Murray-mania in Belgium this week, he is playing a challenger in Mons. After his final against Federer in Bangkok it's nice to have him here, but we all fear that he can keep "the Belgians" from a victory. He'll play his first round match tomorrow, and could face Xavier Malisse in the quarters on Friday
Finally I get to see Xavier, would go by train but national strike, went by car but it made a strange noise and needs to go to the garage, was pretty scared. Between 17.00 and 20.00 no matches, so pretty boring. Then FINALLY I see Xavier Malisse back after more than a year, it's a nice match, Xavier wins a tense 1st set 7-5 en then Murray retires after 1-0 in the 2nd Ok if he's injured I can't blame him, but I would have loved to see a real match Now it will take a year again before I see Xavier again
He retired with a hamstring injury, found following interview on BBC :
"I felt my left hamstring pull and after that I couldn't really move to my backhand well," he said.
"When the ball was high and when it was low I couldn't put any pressure on my leg.
"I got kind of ratty because he started to make a lot of mistakes. At one point I thought, 'if he keeps playing like this, I've got a chance' but then he started to play better and making me run.
"I just thought it was better to stop than to risk hurting myself even more."
Well at least I have his autograph, you never know if he wins Wimbledon one day But I must admit I don't really like him, I prefer Tim Henman

I agree with you Melissa. Murray has a bad attitude. He acts like a spolit little kid when things aren't going his way. I guess that's my McEnroe loves him.
Meanwhile Henman was back in action today with a 7-5 6-3 victory over Frenchman Antony Dupuis in Vienna. Come on Henners! Next up is Radek Stepanek or Luis Horna.
Tim Henman, playing in his first event since the US Open, crashed out of the BA-CA Trophy in Vienna when he was beaten 6-7 7-6 6-1 by Radek Stepanek. The British number one took the first set on a tie-break.
But, after both men claimed a break in the second set, the third seed levelled the match in another tie-break.
Things went from bad to worse for the Brit after he won the first game of the deciding set. The Czech did not lose another game to close out the set 6-1.
Henman, who won this tournament in 2000, was given a wild card to compete in Vienna and beat qualifier Antony Dupuis 7-5 6-3 in the first round.
That win was Henman's first since he beat Chile's Nicolas Massu at the Cincinnati Masters on 15 August.
Despite the defeat to Stepanek, Henman, who wasted 13 break points, was delighted to have finished a two-and-a-half-hour match at 0200 local time without feeling like he was still carrying an injury.
"It feels weird to be so positive about going out in the second round, but it's a long since I've been able to play to that standard and feel OK," he said.
"I really feel as though I am starting to make some progress at last. I reckon I've been struggling since the clay court season of 2004."
