Grass court season is here...HOORAY!

We finally get some tennis on the TV here in the UK! I can't wait to see if Nadal has the goods to perform on grass. Can Federer win a 3rd title at Wimbledon? Will Pistol Pete come out of retirement, lose a coupla pounds and stroll to the final and win for an 8th time...? (OK so I'm dreaming on the last one!)

Queen's Club starts on Monday and the big one starts 20th June!

C O M E   O N   H E N N E R S ! ! !

Yes, I'm also looking forward to see Timmie again! I hope Mark Philippoussis can make a nice comeback !

How is Greg Rusedski doing by the way?

Not so good recently I'm afraid. He was dumped out of the French Open, straight sets, in the first round by Flavio Saretta. He was top seed at Surbiton (a grass court challenger, traditional warm up for the grass court season) but got beaten there in the first round too. It was quite a close match though and Greg seemed happy that he performed well but was beaten by a better player on the day in the Italian Daniele Bracciali.

I hope he has a good run at Queens in the run up to Wimbledon.

Henin has withdrawn from Eastbourne to ensure she is fit and ready for Wimbledon. Is she not fully recovered from her illness yet?

Ai, not good news from Greg He plays Joshua Goodall (wildcard) in the first round, so normally he should win that..

Justine indeed withdrew from Eastbourne, she's not fully recovered yet, she now won 24 match in a row, which is a lot. She'll play Wimbledon and after that she takes 6 weeks off, she'll only play 1 or 2 tournaments before the US Open, her doctors advised her to rest a lot.

Just had a look at the draw for Queens, Malisse can face Hewitt in round 2 if he beats Lee, and if Mark Philipoussis overcomes Sluiter, he meets Andy Roddick..

Rusedski went through today against fellow brit Andrew Murray 6-3 6-4

Am V happy that the grass court season has arrived.... Time to push those clay courters out of the top 10!!!

Henman plays tomorrow, good luck Tim and fingers crossed!

Sorry to have to correct you Administrator...but Greg actually beat fellow Brit Josh Goodall 6-3 6-4 and Andrew Murray beat the Spaniard Santiago Ventura 6-1 6-2 in his first ever ATP senior match. He appears at Queen's Club fresh from losing in the Junior semi at Roland Garros. He got an extra bonus today after hearing that he's been awarded a wildcard at Wimbledon. Hopefully he will follow Henman into the 2nd round and beyond to make a nice change from the usual performance of the Brits at SW19.

I think he's definitely a talent above and beyond the rest of the Brits (Henman/Rusedski excluded). Although he's a clay court specialist I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he'll feel at home on the grass after a good run and start to charge the net like a proper tennis player should! I can't wait to see some serve and volley

Just had a look at the order of play, it looks pretty good today.. Only Malisse-Hewitt is starting to early, I'll only be home at 4.30PM and it's already the second match.. so can we have some rain please  But Henman is coming up afterwards, it feels like ages since I saw him playing, will be great to see him again

Malisse & Hewitt played slowly enough, so I could watch the last set Xavier was the better player, but got nervous in his last service game, didn't hit any 1st serve and lost the game So Hewitt won 6-7 7-5 7-5..

I saw the scoreboard online at work for the Malisse vs. Hewitt match and saw he won the first set. I was hoping the Belgian would win because Henman has a better chance of beating him in a later round than the cocky Aussie .

Henman scaped the first set on a breaker...and is looking more confident in the second.

Looks like the BBC have some new match analysis thanks to Hawkeye this year (some dude showing good shot decisions with the help of a telestrator pen). Should make a nice addition to the coverage for us Brits.

Euhm, I wouldn't really say a better chance, it's 2-0 for Malisse in their encounters

That's true Melissa...but it's 8-0 to Hewitt with two victories in Queen's Club finals!!!

...and now Henman has lost the 2nd set and it's one set all!

8-0 against Hewitt, auch

But he's safely through to round 3, Timmie won the 3rd set quite quickly

Yep and he certainly took it up a notch in the third set. Hopefully that is the perfect way to start the grass court season. Scud vs. A-Rod tomorrow, should be a good one!

Yeah, Roddick-Philippoussis should be fun, but I'm having an Italian exam tomorrow evening, so I can't watch it In fact, I really should start studying

Just read on a Belgian site that Malisse insulted a linejudge again during his match in the 2nd set, can't really translate what he said, but it was something like "all linesmen & ATP people are stupid". According to Belgian tv, he could again get a 4 week ban for this
