Federer leads Hewitt 7-6 in their head to head; and the Swiss has won all 4 of their meetings this year. The last time they met was at the US Open and Federer won with the bizarre (for the men's game) scoreline of 6-0 7-6 6-0.
Edited to point out that Federer, of course, last beat Hewitt in Houston during the round robin stage...my mistake!
It's a shame they decided not to play the best of 5 sets. Maybe it could've stimulated a similar standard as the 1996 epic between Pete Sampras and Boris Becker. It's been a great year for Federer, I wonder how 2005 will go for him.
