US Open 2005

Any predictions ?

Kim Clijsters looks in great form, I really hope she can take her first Grand Slam She won the US Open Series by beating Justine Henin-Hardenne in the final yesterday, so she's playing for double prize money, could be an extra motivation

I think Federer is unbeatable at the men's side

I agree with Federer on the mens side. The ladies is a bit harder for me to predict but certainly the Belgian girls are looking strong. Sharapova is the new world number one and will be out to confirm that so look out for her.

Unfortunately the Brits are looking less likely to succeed. Greg is in the best form I would say and Murray missed out on a wild card and will have to qualify. Henman is all at sea I think as well as having a stomach injury...does not look good for him despite the fact he thinks the US Open is now his best shot at a Grand Slam title...not while Federer is in the draw I'm afraid!

Yep the leading Brits fell at the first hurdle. V.disappointing indeed...but Murray beat Pavel in 5 sets! 6-3 3-6 3-6 6-1 6-4 . He also emulated the great Pistol Pete by blowing chunks on the court in the final set  I'm not sure if Murray got a code violation.

Currently watching Malisse vs. Agassi, it's a nice match, but don't think Xavier can win Agassi is playing quite aggressive, I think we're going to a Federer - Agassi battle of generations.

One of the key-games in the women's draw is Venus Williams vs. Clijsters tomorrow. Davenport is also playing impressive. Don't know how much further Justine can go this tournament, she played really badly in her last set on Saturday, but I think she must be able to overcome Mary Pierce tonight

Agassi took the first 2 sets, but Xavier won the following two So it's 5th set

Oh my god, this is really not good for my nerves I already barely survived his 5th set tiebreak against Youzhny

I didn't see any of the match I'm afraid but Andre Agassi bt Xavier Malisse 6-3 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 4-6 6-2 to reach the quarter-finals! Looks like it was a good match. Pierce beat Henin too so it was a bad night for Belgian fans I'm afraid.

I'd love to see a Federer vs. Agassi match for a final!

I missed Henin's match, but I already felt that she wouldn't go to the final..

Kim must have played a great match last night against Venus, but I was too tired to get up at night to watch it I hope the Sharapova match will be played at a "normal" hour.

Watching the women's final will be nice, it starts at 2.00 CET, I need to leave at 05.00 because I'm getting a plane to Greece at 07.35. I'll just fall asleep in the sun I guess

Good news for Kim is that Davenport crashed out to Dementieva So if she can beat Sharapova she'll meet Pierce or Dementieva.. It's now or never for her first Slam

It's 2 all and it's trading of service breaks all the way so far (that's unusual for a ladies game! ). I think Sharapova will win (sorry Mel). I think she is mentally stronger but I wouldn't put money on it.
